The Intellectual Disabilities Agency was founded in 1967 to serve an underserved segment of the New River Valley.

We serve to connect the intellectually disabled in the New River Valley with educational and enriching social activities with others like themselves.

• To establish, maintain, and operate educational, social, and recreational programs for persons with intellectual disabilities

• To provide information to the public regarding the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities and promote resources that address those needs

• To provide assistance to families that facilitate the inclusion of family members with intellectual disabilities in community recreation programs
